On Saturday 6th November Thursday Scouts built an aerial runway at the Scout hall. This was built between two trees in the grounds of the hall. It took quite a bit of time to set up as it involved threading lots of pulleys for tightening the main line, hammering stakes into the ground for anchoring, and constructing two independent breaking systems. Most of the Scouts learned how to do some lashings, tie various knots and also the basics of how pulleys work.
After it was constructed all the scouts (and leaders) had a go and it was great fun.
The equipment was bought from a grant we received from the Gloucestershire county council Youth Capital Fund, awarded by the Gloucestershire Youth Parliament.
