August 2015 Camp

A Cub and Scout camp was held in the Forest of Dean. We had 40 Cubs, Scouts and leaders, including 8 Scouts from the Salvation Army. Activities included backwoods cooking, string trail, compass work, saw & axe, and pioneering. The Cubs in teams rose early to cook breakfast each day with the Scouts team doing evening meals, all overseen by a leader.

As well as getting some extra nights for their nights away badges, most have completed their Outdoor Challenge badge. Even with the weather not being kind, all enjoyed the camp!

AGM 2012

Thank you to the 20 or so parents who came to the AGM. After the formal side we had a presentation of awards gained by Scouts (Chief Scout's Gold) and leaders service awards from headquarters, presented by our District Commissioner Mrs Pat Hope. Well done to all who received their awards.

Narrow Boat Trip 2010

In August, 10 Scouts and 2 leaders loaded then set off in the mini bus to Lichfield to start their week on the narrow boat "Centenary" travelling along the canals to the centre of Birmingham. The boys took control of the boat, doing the locks and all the steering. All scouts achieved their Power Coxswain badge. Additionally, one received their Plus and one received their Instructors. All had a very enjoyable week.

March 2011 Update

Since the flooding over Christmas, we have finally got the scout hall back to full use. The hall has been painted with thanks to Piccolo bears and the side boxes were done with help of two scouts. The boxes do need another coat, which  will be done in the main holidays. Both the Committee room and the toilets were painted by parents  - Thank you!

50th Aniversary

Hatherley Scouts celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008. During the year we ran various special events to celebrate it. As part of the celebration we held a competition to design a badge. The design was eventually the combination of a couple of beavers designs.

Canal Boating 2015

8 Scouts and 3 leaders from Hatherley set of to Barby Marina near Rugby to pick up the narrow boat Centenary. Starting off down the Oxford canal we travelled a total of 80 miles and open and closed 104 locks. Apart from running the boat, the Scouts also cooked the meals. All the Scouts attained their power coxswain badge as well as working towards other badges.

County Rifle Shooting 2011

Congratulations to the three teams taking part in the county air rifle shooting competition. Hatherley teams came first, second, and fourth, with Shurdingon coming third. In addition, a Hatherley Scout achieved the highest personal score! This is an excellent achievement for the Scouts, and for Frank for his instruction over the term.
